Recent pics of the 305

Here are some pics of the 305. Sorry it took so long. I use my phone to take pictures, so sorry about the quality. Some may be out of order. Keel is now one peice from top of stem to transom.
All stringers, deck and hull are finished and installed, all scarfed as per original. Chines and sheers are complete. All deck ribs have been made and installed. Side hull ribs are almost done except for a couple. Hull ribs are complete from the stern forward to forward engineroom bulkhead. Many more have been cut out and are ready to install. First layer of deck planking is complete on deck. First layer of side hull planking is done from stern to forward fuel compartment. Pilot house and gun tubs are built but not installed. Steering gear is being installed. Center shaft was drilled out for and temporarily fitted. Engineroom gussets and angle iron (alum) is nearly complete. Crews table built. CO's desk built. Galley cabinet built. Engineroom workbench built. Sampson post built and installed. Interior painting nearly complete from stern to engineroom. Some bilge plumbing going in. One engine nearly complete. Small arms magazine built. All bunks being rebuilt. Temporary power and lights being installed properly. I know that I am leaving alot out, but just updating what I can recall. The decking is primed first on both sides, it is then fitted in place, numbered and then removed. Raw edges are then primed and then all sides are painted, then reinstalled. All surfaces are primed, then painted before mating. The first layer of planking is nailed down with minimal nails, then the dolphinite is put down, then the canvas. The final planking is screwed down to the ribs with #14 or #16 X 2 1/2" bronze screws, depending on location. Then in between the ribs, the planking is riveted together. They are riveted from the inside. Because of the riveting, we cant put anything inside of the boat. For example the fuel tanks, we have to be able to get to every interior surface for the riveting. So there is a lot of planning.

The boat is really coming together, a true testament to the many volunteer's that have worked on her. Another wonderful project that should bring joy to future generations.
