Hello from 'downunder' in OZ,

With the help of a modelling friend we recently created the masters for a Fairmile B class ML in resin and now we are contemplating what 'little ship' to do next?

I guess given this forum is devoted to PT Boats, the choice would naturally be an Elco 80 footer? The other type we are considering is the Vosper MTB.

Any thoughts?

Roger

Would you guys ever consider doing a larger scale or are you limited in what you can cast. I know speaking for myself, I would love to see something out there in a 77 Foot Eco, and the 103 Class 80 Foot Elco....................

A 77' Elco and a 78' Higgins would be great.

I would vote for a late model Higgins such as PT-658 up in Portland, although 1/72 would be of more interest to me.

70ft and 77ft Elco. Suspect you would be sole source on that.

Hello from Oz,

Well gents, thankyou for your interest which seems far greater here than on some of the other forums I've posted on. I was certain there would be some interest in a Vosper given the imminent release of 1/35th and 1/72nd ones.

Anyway it seems here we have the interest in other types, not the Elco 80 footer as I expected.

Frank -- a 1/72nd Elco PT is alraedy available in plastic, OK some people may not like Revell's offering but hey it's probably not too bad to start with. I'm actually working on the '109' myself using the excellent PE from WEM plus numerous articles that have been posted on the 'net. Enough waffling please Rog, get back on track.

Will and David -- I see your interest lies in the 77' Elco, I have a card model, albeit an old one I got from somewhere so it's possible. PT 658 I don't have any piccies/plans/diagrams for as far as I know.

Al -- yes the Brit Power Boat MGB's/MTB's/MASB's etc are all on my 'to do' list. I do have a Polish card kit of the S-2 (MGB 44), a 63 footer so that's a very real possibility.

This probably won't happen until the new year and I think I'll wait to see what other replies are forthcoming to see where we go.

Not sure if this site has me email address so anyone can send a personal message, if not it's -- debrogerp@hotmail.com

Thanks again gents for your input and I hope you and your loved ones have a lovely Christmas and if travelling anywhere keep safe.

Hi Roger,
As far as PT-658 goes you have a great source on this site in Jerry Gilmartin. Here's a link to the PT-658 site. It contains lots of photos. I believe there are lots of drawing references that can be provided from some of the gentlemen here.

Good luck

Share the repeated interest in a 72nd scale 77 footer. Something to go with Revells 80 footer! Haveing built models since the age of 8, im 50 now and most of those were various Revell PT Boats, i do have a strong interest! Were planning to do a resin, limited run, 77 footer. Right now were still building a plug for the hull than will start the plugs for the other structures. Were looking at all the sources for additional features/scale parts and have not decided yet what we can do in resin outside of basic parts? Its a hobby of mine that for a second time is generating into a business prospect. We'll try to keep those interested informed of our progress, but i do have a full time job and other interests as well so progress will be slow for the time being, hopefully picking up with the arrival of summer soon....i hope!

Dam the torpedoes...full speed ahead!

Agree with a call for a 1/72nd scale Elco 77-footer.

I like the looks of the second-series 77-footers myself, a little more so than the first-series 77' boats, but - a lot of those first series 77-footers fought the "Tokyo Express" around Guadalcanal in the early days.

Ideally, if one 1/72nd scale 77-foot Elco kit were to be produced, I'd love it be a second-series boat, with extra parts to customize it into a PT 59/60/61 gunboat if so desired.
