Charlie;
While I am working on my PT 308 model, I am already thinking of another possible diorama. Recently I came across Royal Model 1/35 US Sailor and Navy Officer WWII, UM 097, 1:35: US Navy Sailor & Officer at rest,
and Master Box 1/35 3556 WWII US Navy WAVES [Women at War]
I have also recently found a cache of 1/32 scale lindberg car models: 1940 Ford Convertible , 1937 Cord, 1937 Chevy Convertible 1936 Ford Roadster at my local Ollies.
My idea is a stateside diorama, maybe with crew field daying the boat, and Officers showing the boat to some nurses, setting up the weekends "activities". With Your recent book, Have you seen any photos taken from piers(or Finger Piers) or boats, showing crews personal vehicles in the background, either at Melville or at Miami Shakedown, that yuou can post? I know the parking was usually some distance from the piers at Melville, but I don't know anything about what Miami Shakedown looked like.
Take care,
TED
