Still on the subject of color, PTs carried various sorts of life preserving equipment on board. There was the balsa (I think) raft and I've seen photos showing small dinghies or skiffs carried upside down on the dayroom of Elcos.

Do any of you who served on the boats recall what color these things were painted? For instance was the raft a high-visibility orange or was it painted the same color as the rest of the boat, gray or green?

Marin, I cannot say exactly what color the life raft was, but it definitely was not orange. I believe it was gray. Ours was the same color of the boat.

our raft on pt 108.in july,1944, was gray to match the deck color.can't remember the dinghy color though.it was upside down on top the day room. earl
