Who is willing to take a shot at what the reference to P.W.S.S.- Milne Bay (New Guinea) might refer to?

It is used in the following context:
"after exchanging signals with P.W.S.S.- Milne Bay, the ship stood in and anchored."

It is probably an Australian reference. It is used in a USS deck log as if it should be known by everyone. I'm thinking "Port ? Signal Station"?? Other than that, I've got nothing!

Hi Allan, according to a website I just located, 'North Queensland at War', Volume I - General Index, PWSS stands for "Port War Signal Stations", on Pg-71 & Pg-257. An email is posted: pnielsen@austarnet.com.au. The author is Peter Andrew Nielsen, so you could probably contact him for more details. Good luck!

Hey Randy:

Thanks for the information. It makes perfect sense and I'm going with it, as supported by your referenced site.
