» Topic: Lashing the raft down onto the foredeck
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=2044

As tiny as this detail may sound, how was (were) a PT's raft lashed to the foredeck (the area ahead of the pilot house). I might think there were some pop-up hooks or latches but thought I'd give an ask here. Some of the vets reading this must have had to do that a zillions times and could recall this.

Thanks in advance,

Bridge

Hello Bridge!
On PT658, a PT625 class Higgins PT Boat, there is a brass ring attached to the deck and soem wooden cradles for the raft. Here is a photo where you can see the brass ring. There is another on the other side as well. The boat is lashed to the rings to keep it secure. Jerry PT658 Portland

Great photo display of the raft!

I also did more digging and came across an ELCO drawing from the Dick Washichek ELCO collection of 3200 blueprints. For those of you that have this I refer to drawings:
ELCO_Roll_5535-2_72SCAN_00337.pdf
ELCO_Roll_5535-2_72SCAN_00272.pdf

These drawings were referenced under'__Life Raft Stowage' in Jeff Davidson's index of the ELCO drawing set. What a combination (drawings and index)! These are going to bubbling up details things for years to come! It shows the deck hold downs and location on the deck itself!

If you don't have these drawings you can get the set for $29 on DVD at http://www.ptboats.org/08-0-05store-02-VIDEOS.html
