Members will now be able to post photos in Message Board posts. However, members will have to upload their images to a Photo Hosting website first. Many of these hosting sites exist and are used for storing images for Bloggers, Message Boarders, Ebay Sellers, so on and so on.

For ease of use I have have created a common site at [url]www.photobucket.com[/url] which everyone can share (Member Name: [b]pboats[/b] Password: [b]elcopt[/b] .) You are free to find your own hosting place or if you have your own website you can link the photos from there. The choice is yours and the processes are almost identical.

Once your photos are upload and stored on the internet, linking them to appear in your posts is actually simple. To some it might appear difficult, but once you go through the process, it's actually quit simple. The process involves creating a special HTML link in your post, telling the Message Board where to look for and where to place the image(s) you wish to display in your post. There is one element different than most photo linking. For security sake the front and rear tag on the link has to be changed when you copy the link in your post. Most use, a [IMG] tag. However we will be required to change the beginning and ending tag to [b][ image ][/b] and [b][ /image ][/b]. Please note that I added a space before and after the square prens, these spaces do not belong there but I had to add them to keep this message board post from thinking they were actual links. This renaming the image tags will hopefully protect us from being hammered and spammed with porno images - time will tell.

Below is a sample of a linked image to this post. This image isn't located at photobucket.com but is actually located on my business site - [url]http://www.gdinc.com[/url] - I simply knew the URL location of this image and typed it into the post and added the beginning TAG and ending TAG and the image appears below.

[image]http://www.gdinc.com/gdi-images/TitleArt-01.jpg[/image]

The actual url link I type was: [ image ]http://www.gdinc.com/gdi-images/TitleArt-01.jpg[ /image ] - however, with out the spaces in prens. The spaces were added only to show a sample not the actual link. The actual represented by the above photo did not have the spaces.

[b]The process is actually as simple as 1, 2, 3 . . .[/b]

1. Upload and store your photos on the internet.
2. Copy the Image Location link
3. Paste that link into your PT Message Board post and edit the beginning and ending image tags
Thats it - - - -

Please keep each photo to a maximum of [b]1000 pixels wide at 72 dpi[/b] and not to exceed [b]500KB[/b].

I have create a small tutorial on how to upload your images and how to link them in your posts, please click on the links below:

For the standard web version click: [url]http://www.ptboats.org/photo-posting.html[/url]

To download a PDF version click: [url]http://www.ptboats.org/PostingPhotos.pdf[/url]

[b]Note: If this feature becomes abused or threatens the message board I stop the ability to post images.[/b]

Note: If the beginning and ending tags are not changed to [ image ] and [ /image ] your post images will not display. You MUST change all [IMG] and [/IMG] tags to lower case spelled-out image not IMG. All brackets are square brackets.

You might notice above that I added a space between the
beginning bracket "[" and the word "image" and a space again before the ending bracket "]"
this is not correct but for the TAG to display in this post, I had to type it this way. The tag you must use have no spaces between the brackets and the word "image". Please follow the tutorials linked above.

The website for Photo Bucket is = [url]http://www.photobucket.com[/url]
User Name = [b] ptboats[/b]
Password = [b]elcopt[/b]

I hope this works out for all . . .

Thank you, Dick, for your work in making it possible to view photos. Will try it out in the near future and hope I'm techy enough to be successful.
We all appreciate your management of the Messge Board.
