» Topic: Ron 33 Photos Finally Up On Photobucket
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=1957

To everyone who has asked about the photos I have of my uncle's, first let me apologize for taking so long to get anything done with them. I wanted to retouch & restore them all before I put them up, but life just keeps roaring by, so I finally decided to just put them up as they are. The pictures were all shot by my uncle Howard E Herling who served with Ron 33 at Layte Gulf. He enlisted in '42 & was discharged in November '45 after the decommissioning of Ron 33 in October. He was pretty stingy with captions/descriptions in his photo album, so I've simply labeled the pictures with what I know, or what he had noted. I wish I had more info on what's depicted, but all I can do is take what the past has given me & be thankful for that. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask. It may take me a while to respond, but I will get back to you with any information I know. The album on Photobucket is:
PT Boats Ron 33 Howard E Herling Leyte Gulf
I hope everyone on the message board enjoys the images.

OK so I thought I had my album ready to go on photobucket. I've uploaded all the pictures, but when I do a search for the album(as if I were a visitor) nothing shows up.
Once I've uploaded all my images to an album, is there something else I need to do?
I've probably only ever been on PB half a dozen times, so I'm not very well versed in its use.
Thanks.

Blake,

I think you have to make the album(s) "Public" instead of "Private" in order for non-photobucket members to view and search for the album.

And then if you can copy and paste the album's URL into a message, here, that would help, too.

Log in to your photobucket account.

Click on "All Albums"

Place the cursor over the album that you want to make public and the "edit" and "delete" options will appear.

Click on "edit" and from here you will be able to change the album to "public".

The album was already set up as "public", so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I'll have to mess with it later when I have the time.
Thanks for the help though.

Nice photos, Blake!

I found your phtoobucket.com page.

I'm going to try to post a link for it, too.

The link Carl posted goes to the album, but I'm not sure why they don't turn up when doing a search for PT Boats.
I'll have to look into it more, but I'm heading out of town for a few days, so it'll have to wait.
Thanks for every bodies help.

Great photos. thanks for sharing. Between your ron 33 photos and mine there are quite a lot. The 495 boat was renamed "Gentleman jim" in honor of James Shaw who was KIA on the 495 boat in July of '44. Seeing "Camp Shaw" was touching. I have contact information for his Great Nephew ( is that a real term?) and would like to pass your link to him with your permission.
Thanks,
Ed

Blake;
Nice photos! You can sure see the deck planking in some of these photos!
It sure is sad to see those photos of PT 66 burning, and from all angles too. Thanks for posting them.
Take care,
TED.

Hey Blake,
Love those pictures. Every time I look at them I see something new. Little details of hardware and what I assume are crew additions such as the locker on the side of the cockpit. Another thing I hadn't seen much of before were details of the floatation ring. At least this one has a rope tied to it and neetly stowed within it. Makes sense. Throw the ring out and haul the person in.
