Here we go again. I thought another good project might be doing a PT TENDER in 1/72 scale with her boats next to her. I was hoping some of you might have plans for one or several of the Tenders that I might borrow. Stan says it does not matter what size you have because he can scale up or down. As no one that I know has any Tenders on the market, Stan will need to scratch build it. Along those lines, if any of you would like to see a specific tender built, please let me know. I thought about doing the USS NIAGARA, but then Stan would have to scratch build everything for that one. If you have a reason why you want to see a specific Tender built, let me know. I will announce my choice later on........

Frank;
Here are some plans I found online for a Barnegat class sea plane tender
which Oyster Bay(APG 6), Mobjack(APG 7), Wachapreague(APG 8), and Willoughby (APG 9).

I am starting to see a pattern here Frank, for a guy concerned with space and size, thiese are slowly getting bigger and more complex!! This is going to be HUGE at 1/72nd scale a Barnegat class PT tender will be 4ft 3.7917 in. long by 6.8 inches wide!!! The base of the diorama would have to be around 5ft X 3ft just to look right.

I will give it a few years, but I see a real 80' Elco coming your wy someday.
Take care,

Thanks Guys:

I have just sent a request to Carl to see if he would send me the plans for the USS Oyster Bay. Ted, this would be not much bigger then the PT-108/Gato Sub project, and you are right, one day I might have Stan build me the real thing...................

Frank;
Of course Wachapreague(nice looking in Measure 32 design 2XA) is my choice with RON 12, underway for Leyte Gulf 20 Oct 1944. My two Main reasons are personal ones. #1 From 1976-1994 I lived in Melfa which is 3 miles from the town of Wachapreague, on Eastern Shore of Virginia, a great little fishing village, and in The Island House Resturant, owner by Randy Lewis, hung a photo of the ship port side to as shown here. #2 Because my SBU invited RON 12 vets who were holding a miny reunion in Va Beach, to go for a ride on our MKVSOC's in 2000.
Stan can make one just like these photos, I believe they could UNREP 3 boats at a time, one on each side and one off the stern. If you are interested write me off site, this post is getting HUGE!!!
Later,
TED

Hi Carl,
I like to include the beautiful picture of Oyster Bay model to my almost completed vol. II on PT boats. I hope you can send me an image (350 dpi
5 X 7 size) via email or regular mail (2584 Wellesley Ave., Los Angeles,
CA 90064). Any information about scale, builder's name, where display, etc will be appreciated. If use, how should I credit it?
Thanks!
