I've been corresponding with a Finnish colleague on the 70' boats Higgins originally built for Finland. He has provided some marvelous documentation and photos and we've both come to discover that the HELLCAT had essentially the same hull lines - same beam and just a few inches longer. I've started drawing up a set of 1/32 scale plans based on the HELLCAT lines, actual dimensions of the Finnish boat, photos of the completed MRB-2, a bunch of photos of the DUTCH version, and a preliminary Higgins plan for the MRB. My Finnish contact has provided copies of the original drawings for the 20mm Madsen cannon and the Italian-designed torpedo launching rack, too. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, life is good[:-grin-:].

Hi Al,
I have several pictures of the MRB2 (interior and exterior) that I would love to share with you if you are interested. I can email them to you as I did for Frank Andruss last year. Jerry PT658 Portland

The Hell Cat would make for a nice scratch built project for my Exhibit. Maybe when you are done Al, I can get a set of plans for the Hell Cat.

Frank;
I have always liked the lines of the Hellcat, especailly in the photos where Bob Searles is op testing her off Miami in 1944, with the roll-off racks, but later on she had a two of .50 cal twin machine gun mounts added,to the bow for testing. A model would be great.
Take care,
TED

Ted
Thanks for the photos you sent to me, although I have many of the Higgins Hell Cat. With Stan's ability, he could make her right from the photo's, but why make him work that hard. Plans would be nice........

Will do. May be some time before I get to the HELLCAT, but I'll get you a set when done.
