Hi there.

If this post is not permitted here, then I ask that a moderator simply remove it.

I know that some of you believe in the power of prayer.

My sister has been diagnosed as having lymphatic cancer. It is quite advanced and she is close to 140 pounds overweight. Her prognosis is not good. She goes in for another biopsy soon and then will move onto chemo-therapy. If she can not tolerate the chemo-therapy (which is highly likely given her already weakened state and her inability to eat solid foods) she will die. She is already in a great deal of constant pain. Therefore I am asking all of you who believe in the power of prayer to pray for her.

We have already lost our mother and our father to cancers (and other relatives as well) and that has heightened my concerns for the recovery of my sister.

Thanks from Peter

Pete

I am certainly aware of your Sisters problem as my own Kid Sister was diagnosed with the same type of Cancer several years ago. I am happy to say that she is Cancer free for the last 8 years now, and that Prayers certainly do help. "I am sending prayers out to your Sister in hopes that our Lord will place his hand on her frail body and heal her". "May Mother Mary take your Sister in her arms and bring her Peace".

Your coming here to ask us for prayers is by no means causing any problems or concerns in my eyes. We are here for each other and I am sure all of us on the message board will be sending prayers out to your Sister. If you wish to contact me off site and send me her address, I will be more then happy to send her a card of prayer, if you think that is ok.................

Hi there.

Things are not going well for my sister. Yesterday she was rushed to the hospital. One of her kidneys has shut down completely. They are going to start her on Chemo tomorrow even though she is very weak still. Apparently she won't last long without the Chemo but the Chemo itself is a risk because of her weakness. The prayers of you who are praying for her are greatly appreciated.

Cheers from Peter

Hello Peter-

I have not been on the message board in quite some time due to an electrical lighting storm striking very close to my home. Several home computers were affected by the strike as was mine.

Pete, I have been in communication with you in the past either here on the message board and off. You have been a huge help to me with all you have donated to our current diorama projects. I consider you one of my dearest friends, and I mean that from the heart.

As Frank A. and others have stated here we are all friends on this message board. I will pray for the health of your sister and for you yourself. I know you are having problems yourself, my friend. God bless!

My prayers are indeed with your sister. I'm in the same boat only I'm waiting for bone marrow transplant. Best advise I can give, be there for her, it makes a difference. Sometimes being a soundboard for venting is one of the greatest things you can do. (Frank has been one of my biggest supporters since I found out about this, he listens pretty good.]

Hi Frank.

She's holding her own. She was bought a new pair of slippers but when she wore them they rubbed part of her foot raw and no one noticed that until she got a really bad infection in it. Hospitals are *NOT* a good place to be if you have an open wound that no one notices.

I'll keep you all posted as i find out more. thanks again for your continuing prayers as without them I doubt very much that she'd still be with us.

Great News that she is holsing her own. You are correct about Hospitals, infections are caused from being in the Hospitals. Aside from that set back, we are all saying our prayers here on this message board that God will help her back to recovery..........

Peace/Shalom.

Thanks Frank.

All your prayers have been effective as the greatest Christmas present I got last year (2010) was another Christmas with my sister. She has a lot of good days but she has some bad days too especially the ones following her treatments. She is very grateful for those treatments and also for your prayers as she knows that she'd no longer be here without them.

Her family got together and bought me a new Toshiba laptop for Christmas. I was able to log in here and show here the messages in this thread. They really perked her up.

Thanks again to all of you who care and are interceding on my sister's behalf.

Cheers from Peter

I think that is FANTASTIC. I am so pleased to hear she is doing better, and I know she will continue to do so. My Kid Sister is a cancer survivor now for nine years and said that the power of prayer and the strong will to believe you will get better meant a great deal to her. Please tell your Sister, we are praying for her each day, and wish her contiued success in her road to recovery........................

About 3/4 hour ago my sister suffered what might have been a stroke. Her speech was garbled, she kept repeating herself and for a while she couldn't hear. When the ambulance left the emergency lights were not flashing. I think that only prayers will see her recover from whatever happened.

Thanks from Peter

Shalom/Peace.

Your prayers really do help. It is 0100 hours here and my sister is home again. What is really interesting is that last night I stopped off at her place to give my niece some money to help her out a bit. I was on my way to get a milkshake. My sister invited me to stay for supper and it was while she was sitting at the table across from me and working on making gravy that she suffered what turned out to be a stroke. If i had not been there no one would have know that she was having one as my niece was in bed and my sister's husband was in another room where he was watching a football game. It's really interesting how God works.

My sister will be getting another bunch of tests done soon so they will know exactly what happened.

Thanks again for all of your prayers.

Cheers from Peter

Situation not looking good.

My sister was taken to ER tonight at 1715 hours and while there she suffered a Grand Mal Seizure and is currently in ICU. I'm very concerned that this is the beginning of the end for her as it is so similar to the events hen my mother passed on from her cancers and treatments.

Your prayers are much needed and appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

Peter, may God's comfort and peace be with your sister, with you and your family. Years ago when a youth leader, I assisted with our church high school choir director on several occasions as they worked on special concerts that they would take to other churches and prisons. As I read Frank's post, a phrase or refrain from one of the songs came to my mind:
"...and He will lift you up, over and over, and He will lift you up!"

Shalom.

Thank you very much for all of your prayers and thoughts. I wish I had better news.

At 2300 hrs tonight my sister is being transported to another city to get an MRI done and they hope to have the results of that by Monday. The doctors are pretty certain that the lymphoma is now in the meninges and want the MRI to confirm that. Th other possibility is that the lymphoma is in the spinal column. If it is in the meninges the doctors today told us that she has three more months maximum to live.

Last night my sister lost all memory who who she was, where she was, that she'd moved here 21 years ago, who family were and that our parents are both dead and have been for many years now. She did get some memory back today and was able to get out of bed for a few minutes although she did fall.

My only hope for her is that God will let her deteriorate to the point where medical science says there is nothing they can do for her and then God will perform a miracle.

Thanks again and cheers from Peter

Shalom.

I don't think that there will be many more posts from me on this subject. I typed this and then sat here for a number of minutes before clicking Send.

First it was my mother and then my dad and now my sister. I hate to upset anyone but I thought that those on-line friends of mine, and also those others of you, who are praying for my sister and our family would want to know.

I just had a call from my very upset niece. The Lymphoma is now everywhere in my sister's brain including the meninges. It s also pressing against the brain stem. There's a lot of other lymphoma cancer throughout her body but it is the lymphoma in the brain that will stop my sister's breathing. The doctors said she might only have a few days left. Barring a major miracle we here are basically on a death-watch.

Peter,

My prayers to your sister and your family. May you all find peace and comfort from each other and from all of your brothers and sisters here in your PT family. I do not mean to say that a miracle is not possible but wanted to share a passage i found that may be comforting in the days ahead. Gods blessing to you and your family.

O Shepherd of Israel, Who dost neither slumber nor sleep, we are the people of Thy pasture and the sheep of Thy hand. Enfold us safely in Thy love. And if in our grief and loneliness and moments of desolation, we should stray from following Thee, O leave us not, faithful Shepherd, but draw us near unto Thee.

As we face the great mystery of death which called away this our dear friend from our earthly abode, we feel our frailty, our weakness. We do not understand the brevity of life: we cannot understand why such pain and anguish of heart and mind are visited upon those we love.

Make us not despair, Eternal Father; we are called by Thy Name, we are Thine, Thou hast set thoughts of Thee in our hearts, though we; creatures of flesh and blood, can but dimly apprehend Thy purposes. Teach us not to neglect the task of today because we cannot see its eternal effect. O teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom; to lengthen our brief life by intensity of living; to fill swift hours with worthy deeds.

Besides the still waters, through the green pastures, and in the valley where dark shadows lie, be Thou our strength and shield, and may we find Thy rod and Thy staff a stay and comfort to us in the days that lie ahead.

Peter,
Ever since I joined the message board, I noticed right away something special about this organization. In addition to all the help I received ,
we all show our love and concern for our member's sister, Mary. I know
when my time comes, I will be in good company. I noticed all the
writers of this posting are all my good friends Someday may we all on board our favorite PT boat at full throttle, speeding to meet our maker, with wind blowing through our hair and salt apray upon our faces as our
predecessors before us.
Peter, if possible please post a picture of Mary on our message board as a lasting memorial of our love for her through our common interest.
God bless you all!

Shalom.

Today the radiation specialists said that even with the proposed radiation treatment my sister will have a maximum of three more months. At least that will allow us to celebrate one last birthday with her in April.

The cancer is in her major organs as well as the meninges (brain) and brain stem.

As far as I am concerned she is and has been in God's hands for some time now. He may still allow a miracle. As long as she lives there is hope.

I feel strangely peaceful about this. I guess it's because the results are what I experienced with so many other family members who have passed on because of cancers.

I'm trying to eat well and keep active physically as well as mentally so I can be available to the family if or when my sister passes on.

Thank you all so very much for thinking about us and for taking the time to pray for us.

Cheers from Peter

Shalom.

Thank you all so very much for your messages of condolences; also for your prayers.

The Teacher in Ecclesiastes writes that there is a season for everything. The new testament states that, "To be absent from the body is to be with the Lord." We can take comfort from those two verses.

Jesus (a Jewish Rabbi btw) told people not to let the sun go down on their anger. He also taught not to state what you are going to do tomorrow for you don not even know if you will be live tomorrow.

I am grateful that my sister and i had such a wonderful almost psychic relationship. We never let the sun go down if we were upset with each other, unless we reconciled our differences. I truly pity those who have angry words with a loved one and then have that loved one die before a reconciliation takes place.

In a way it is very ironic that my sister passed a way on valentine's Day. In other ways it seems so very fitting that the God of Love would choose this day to bring her home. Perhaps He was lonely.

Please remember to take time to tell those whom you love that you do love them. Some men have a very hard time uttering the words, "I love you" but your loved ones and especially the females in your life need to hear them.

"Faith, Hope and Love and greatest of these is Love." That is because our Faith will be fulfilled as will our Hope but our Love will endure forever.

Thanks again, God bless you all and cheers from Peter
