been researching my grandfathers time in the navy. he was a gunners mate on a crash boat. question is about pt's 362-367. i read they were made by harbour boat building in california. where would the sailors be close to that facility to train and shake the boat down? perhaps at terminal island? reason i ask is my grandads boat was built there.

As PT Boats were the forgotten service, Crash Boats were the obscure!
Utilized by all services records are very scarce.
I have noticed over the years 'lurking' on this forum, every once in a while from a photo of a Ron at a base, tucked in the background a partial of a crash boat can be seen!
Additionally this past weekend TMC aired 'IN Harms Way' I noticed with the exception of the underway patrol footage, the boats at the docks were all 63' crash boats dressed as PT's.
