Hi To All;
I recently bought a photo of PT 585 RON 39, the photo might be on the East Coast, or the P.I. 1945. I really don't know. I know by Will's list it was named "TOJO" and also "FAIR GO"(what ever that meant back in the day), does anyone have info on this boat, besides what is in the back of At Close Quarters, such as Crew names or other photos?? I have been told my friends Grandfather, Carlton L.Byrd(who graduated in MTB Class 5 or 6 and was assigned to RON 5 on July 16, 1942, he was an exec in RON 5, but was later transferred as exec and skipper RON 6 DIV 17, and then transferred with his boat to RON 8. He returned Feb 10, 1944 as a LTjg and for a time was an instructor at MTBTRU) was either a skipper in RON 27(which I doubt), PT 537 RON 37(which I also doubt, because he would have only been back4 months and re-assigned, John Iles remembers Carlton as an instructor at MTBTU, Mr Iles was a Skipper in RON 4 at the time, so I know he came back in Summer 1944? or RON 39(which I actually think it is, because I believe that is what was listed in my 1996 Peter Tare social Roster... does anyone have a copy, I lost mine), if I can find his boat in this squadron, I can send a photo to his grand-daughter).
Thanks,
TED

Jerry;
Did Russ Hamachek have any info on RON 39 he might have passed on to you guys, or did he send everything to HQ years ago?
Take care,
TED
