Hello everyone,

The following is an updated list of all PTs that I have verified to have directly supported Alamo Scout teams on a live mission. It is by no means complete--as research is ongoing. Anyone who has a boat to add, please let me know. When reading Patrol Reports, look for "Army Scouts" or "Scout Team", that is a good indicator. Thanks again to all who have contributed. Couldn't do it without you!

74 - 76 - 77 - 78 - 79 - 127* - 132 - 146 - 148 - 151 - 152 - 156 -190 - 192* - 194 - 195 - 196 - 297 - 300 - 301- 323 - 326 - 363 - 364 - 365 - 366 - 367 - 368 - 369 - 378 - 379 - 381 - 383 - 489 - 490 - 491 - 492 - 494 - 495 - 497 - 522 - 523* - 524* - 525 - 526 - 546 - 550 - 551

Lance;
312 was with RON 22 in the Med.
317 was with RON 4 at Melville and never left the east coast.
Take care,

Ted,

Thanks so much! A few years back a Scout gave me his journal with those PT numbers in it, but I never could verify. I guess at 0-dark-30 on an enemy-held island they're easy to get confused! I'll now remove those from my original post.

All my best,

Lance

How do you know that PT 300 was part of this group? I am always trying to find info on PT 300 as my uncle was on that boat.

Thanks

Colleen,

The War Diary for RON 13 substantiates the operation. That, and I interviewed Clyde Smith and Everett Nussman of PT-300. The diary of William Tatroe mentions it as well.

This maybe a reach, but here goes.....after thinking it over it is possible the owner of the log book transposed some numbers in the dark, after looking at your PT boat list and the possibilities of your teams working with available boats from the same squadrons used, maybe 312 is really supposed to be PT 321 RON 21(80' Elco, Destroyed to prevent capture 11/11/1944) and 317 is really PT 371 RON 18(but this was a 70' Canadian Power Boat, and was destroyed to prevent capture on 9/18/1944). Were your mission dates before these destruction dates?
Take care,

Hi Lance - where would I find the War Diaries and the interviews? When did you do the interviews with those men - would I be able to talk to them?

Any info you could give me on the 300 boat would be wonderful!

thanks so much!

Colleen

Ted,

Just got back from vacation and read your post. It is possible that he had numbers transposed. Hell, when you're at this as long as I've been ANYTHING is possible! I'm going to be at NARA at the end of the month and I will check the mission reports--if I can find them. As always, thanks for your help.

Not a problem brother, I help when I can. I hope you find I am right, and you are correct at 0-dark-30 when your an un-welcomed guest bugging out of Indian country on the sly, you can miss a few things, all you care about is getting on the boat and heading for home.
Good Luck,
TED
