What a great site. So much information on PT boats! I've scratch-built a Vosper MTB at 1/14.6 scale making the model 60 inches long. It is RC and powered by 3 Johnson 18VDC drill motors. I used the Revell 1/72 model as my reference. The boat has been running for several years as I continue to work on details. The torpedoes are operational, powered by a Graupner Speed 300 motor on 4 AAA cells in series. A coil spring pushes the fish out of the tube. A magnetic reed switch turns on the motor as the torpedo clears the tube. I've documented the build on my web site at:

Go to "Hobbies" to see the boat in action and still pictures of the build. Since it's an odd scale, everything is scratch-built including the life rings, life raft, 20mm gun, .50 cal mounts, and just about everything else. The boat is equipped with all working and running lights. I run it on a 6-Channel Hitec ground radio. Each motor has it's own Proboat ESC. The three rudders are turned by a pull-pull cable system powered by a Futaba sail servo. Both torpedoes fire at the same time as on the full-sized boats. The last bit of work is underway to build operational depth charges. Working on the permits to arm them with a small amount of black powder for effect.

I've taken a few liberties in the design so it isn't exactly to scale in the layout of the mast. Other than that, it's a Type A1 Vosper built in Rhode Island for Lend-Lease and used by the Russian Navy in WWII. British boats didn't have Browning .50 cal machine guns or the compressed air firing mechanism for the torpedoes.

Don't quite have adding photo down yet. Right clicking seems to take you to my website and MTB photos however.

Mike . . .

You had the coding right for an image (photo), but your link was to a web page not a photo so I changed your image code to a url code instead. The link now takes visitors to your boat build slide show.

Nice job on the Vosper.
