RIP actor Robert Culp, 16 August 1930 to 24 March 2010.

Culp memorably played Ensign George "Barney" Ross, XO of PT 166 (destroyed by U.S. B-25 aircraft in a friendly-fire incident on July 20, 1943), who hitched a ride aboard PT 109 the night she was rammed and sunk, in the movie "PT 109" (1963).

Baby boomers will also remember Culp as "Kelly Robinson," a globe-trotting CIA field agent who posed as a tennis pro along with Bill Cosby as his trainer "Alexander Scott," in the 1960's TV series "I Spy."

Robert Culp's first role in the Movies was PT-109. I had contacted Ty Hardin the other day (played Lenny Thom) to see if he knew Culp had passed on. He was very upset and did not know the News. He claimed Culp was a good friend on the Movie Set and very funny. You might remember him as Debra Barone's Father in "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Frank, I just read a little about Ty Hardin. Is all the political stuff I read about him on Wikipedia true? Anti-Semitic hate group in Arizona? He had 8 wives and has 10 kids? And is he hiding out in Costa Rica?

Although some of the things you have read about Ty are true, most are not. He was a very big ladies man and has been married many times. I have asked him numerous times to stop sending me Political messages, which average three a day, but despite that, I have found him to be a really nice guy. The biggest problem is he is losing his memory, and it is getting tough for him to remember things. His memory is pretty sharp when it comes to the movie PT-109, which he claims was one of his favorite roles that demanded he be in tip top shape. He is not hiding out anywhere, and spends time with his family and on the Golf course...............
