New guy here, my name is Mike Finn. My dad was aboard the 164 when it was hit on that day. He did survive and recieved his first purple heart from that incident. He actually was a member of this organization until his passing in 1978. His name is William Finn. Most new him a Billy. I have seen posts on this web site asking if both fatal casualties that day were on the 164. Cannot verify that although from what my dad told me I believe that is most likely the situation. He was wounded and immediately evacuated to another vessel but did mention he remembered hearing that shipmates were killed in action. Thanks to all of you for remembering what these folks did for us. You will hear from me again.
