ť Topic: Gunboats- Pt's 59,60 &61

I am looking for information on any of the three mentioned PT Boats that were converted to Gunboats. My father served under Lennie Thom
on one of these in September of 1943. I am trying to find out which one.
I do know that he was a 40MM Gun Captain on PT 61 when Joe Atkinson was the Skipper.

My father's name was Walden Fannin from Ironton, Ohio. He had a nickname of "Rip", but that may have come after the war.

His service record is as follows:
Great Lakes NTS 6/942 - 8/1/42
MTBSTC Melville 8/1/42 - 10/42
MTB Base 2 10/9/42 - 5/1/43
MTB Base 3 5/1/43 - 9/1/43
MTB Ron 2 9/1/43 - 1/1/44
MTB Ron 3(2) 1/1/44 - 4/2/44
MTBTC Melville 4/2/44 - 3/2/45

He also went to Wooster College in Wooster, Ohio for flight training.

Pat: Lenny Thom skippered PT-60 in her gunboat configuration. Al Webb was his first exec. Thom later commanded PT-587, nicknamed "THOMCAT".
