Ron 23 Battle Stars

Can anyone tell me the number of battle stars Ron 23 earned during the war and for what actions?

I was in Ron 19 and 23 (PT 242)and received 2 Asiatic Pacific stars for South Pacific Campaign and Philippine Campaign.

Thank you Mr. Willis. Do you happen to remember James C. Herrin, who went by the nickname, "Cheese?" He was aboard 282 from about March 18, 1944 to June 16, 1945. He was a Gunner's Mate.

I did not know your Uncle however after Squadron 19 was decommissioned May 15, 1944, my boat P.T. 242 was placed in Squadron 23. We patroled from Green Island in Sections with P.T.282 and all other Ron 23 boats until November. All original Ron 19 personell were relieved of duties after 16 months service (in the Solomons) in November 1944 and returned to the States for R and R. A new crew took over P.T. 242 and took it to the Philippines along with other boats of Ron 23..

Mr. Willis,
My father, Walter Bauer was a torpedoman who served in Ron 23.
I'm not sure exactly when was there or what boat he was on (possibly PT277 as he mentioned the nickname of one of his boats was the Knightmare, and I have been able to trace it back to that boat/squadron)
I was just wondering if perhaps you may have remembered him. My mother tells me he was nicknamed "Redbeard" because of his blondish brown hair but bright "red" beard.

I too was a Torpedoman but at General Quarters was Twin 50 turret gunner. I don't recall your father but if he was on the 277 probably ate at the base chow hall with him.
Boat crews lived so closely together the we seldom associated with other boat crews. At Green Island we tied up at bouys so did not berth with any other boats to get acquainted. We knew the people on the base force because they worked on the boats, even helped with monthly maintenance of the torpedos.
