Good morning.

My name is Chris Barr. I just found my grandfather's photo album from PT base 17. His name was Vere Smith, one of the radio guys on the base in 1944 - ?. I thought you may find some memories of your own in this album that he put together for my mother those many years ago. He was a wonderful man and I hope you don't mind me sharing this with your organization.

You would have all been proud of the way he lived his life and how he always remembered and cherished his Navy years and the many friends he made. He remained a part of the reserves until his death in 1986. He lived in Athens, Ohio and Sarasota, Florida.

I'm happy you have a group that still appreciates and celebrates your unique spot in our great history. If not an imposition, I may try to visit your reunion in July to somehow connect and honor my grandfather.

If anyone would have any information about that place and time, I would love to learn more about my Great American Hero. You can reach me at cbarr@myewellness.com.

Thank you for your service to our country.
Chris

Don't let anyone take that album away from you. Are you related to a Gary Barr from Massachusetts?

Thanks Gary.
No relation. My family on my dad's side is mostly from Western PA. I'm really enjoying reading all of the various posts on the boards this morning. It's amazing what an affinity one develops for the PT boats, myself included. I recognize all of the different flleet logos from framed pictures my grandfather had in his office all those years ago.
Best to you and your family.

That's OK .............

Would you want me to post your album on my website? You could even do a little write-up about it too.
