Hello Guys:

As you know I am working on my second book (December 15th dealine) which is a look Behind the Scenes for the Baes, Tenders, RTU, and FEMU. Many photos have come my way thanks to several sources, but very little on the Tenders. I have a handful of photos showing life onboard these ships, but so few. I am not sure why a more careful documentation was not kept on these Ships. Chip Marshall and Gene Kirkland visited PT BOATS INC for me, and even they do not have that much. I am sending out an SOS in hopes some of you might have any tender shots that I could use for the book. If you can scan them, I need them at least 300DPI in TIFF format (JPEG) if nothing else. You can contact me off site if you wish at mosquitofleet@comcast.net Thanking you in advance............

G'Day Frank,
I think ive posted this before, but here it is again.Have you got this one ? you could resize it from there.
Its from a site called PICTURE AUSTRALIA.
http://www.pictureaustralia.org/

US Elco PT Boat anchored, at Kana Kope, next to the Asheville class patrol gunboat, USS Tulsa, at their PT base at Kona Kope. The PT boat has just returned from rescuing four crew members of A16-245, a 6 Squadron Lockheed Hudson piloted by 415152 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) Ray Kelly. Flt Lt Kelly was forced to ditch the Hudson in the bay when poor weather delayed them long enough for the fuel to run out. Note the serial number 22 and the US Navy ensign on Tulsa's bow. Launched in August 1922 and commissioned in 1923 as patrol gunboat 22 (PG-22), the USS Tulsa served with America's Asiatic Fleet before being forced from the Philippines by the Japanese advance. Refitted in Sydney in October 1942, she escorted PT boats along the New Guinea coast at the start of the Buna-Gona offensives before being based at Kana Kope at Milne Bay from November 1942, serving alternatively as a PT boat tender, supply ship escort and patrol craft.

Cheers Mate

Michael:

Thanks for the heads up on this very nice photo. Checking the site, the cost would be $62.00, which is way to much to spend on any one photo for publication. Appreciate you looking out...............
