http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=1448

Hi there.

I'm thinking about restarting work on my very heavily modified 1/32 scale Lindberg PT boats. I would like to construct the anti-depression rails for the two .50 calibre gun tubs. Does anyone here have the scale dimensions of the supports (heights of) and diameter/circumferences of the ringgs they would be willing to share with me? If I can't get scale measurements or drawings I'll have to just eyeball it like have done with many of th other conversions and modifications on this model.

Thanks and cheers from Peter

There's only the forward turret shown, and I'm in the process of redoing the drawings, but this should get you started. Measurements are best guesses derived from ELCO plans and photos. The rear railings are different but the same outside diameter. Later boats had a different design, and modifications were made after installations such as radar was done:

You're welcome guys, and thanks Will. Give me a few more decades and I might actually finish this project!

Hey Peter Tare Builder,

Most U.S. hobby shops usually have a good supply of various gauges of brass rods, which are perfect for the 1/32nd scale .50 turret depression rails...

PETER TARE;
I used wire solder, bent the initial main piece, then cut and added the smaller pieces, then super glued them, this was what I did to my 1/32nd PT 167 model(late 1944), that was back in 1992 and they have not fallen apart yet! I also did this with brass wire on my 1/72nd scale PT's.
It takes some patience, but it works.
Take care, TED
