Dear Message Board:

Thought I would update all of you on the progress for the first ever MOSQUITO FLEET ZIPPO LIGHTER.

I spoke with Miss Mimi Frantz from the Company who handles the Promotions end of things. I sent her an E Mail outlining my request. She seemed very excited about the project and asked me to send her Vector Art drawn in Adobe Illustration. Now, for those of you who understand Computer Lingo that is a simple thing. For someone like me, who just purchased a Computer a few years back, this meant little. I contacted Dick who is the WEB MASTER for our little Community Board for PT BOATS INC. Dick of course knew what this all meant and will be sending the Art to Miss Frantz in the next few days ( Thank You Dick )

When she recieves the art, Zippo will then be making up a test lighter for me to view. If you did not know, the lighter will be on either a brushed or High Chrome finish. The lighter will carry the color version of THE MOSQUITO FLEET LOGO, originally done by Walt Disney.

We are taking this project in steps, so no mention has been made as to any cost's associated with this project. My angle is for Zippo to make these lighters at no cost to me, then we can have PT BOATS INC. sell them as well as my MOSQUITO FLEET EXHIBIT, and or direct purchases from ZIPPO. I have informed them as to PT BOATS INC being non-profit and the fact that early indications show a strong desire for folks to buy them. I will keep my fingers crossed and let those of you on this message board know what is happening. If any of you have any thoughts as to any other designs ( other then Mosquito Fleet Logo ) now is the time to speak up.

Frank. Seems to me the basic mosquito logo it the best choice. Maybe somewhere down the line there will be a way to get individual Ron logs done.

FRANK;
JUST A THOUGHT. "IRON MEN IN WOODEN BOATS" INSCRIBED UNDER THE LOGO OR ON THE BACK OF THE LIGHTER.

Steve & Will:

Nice thoughts for the lighter. Art work is in their hot little hands so I hope to hear something in a day or so. I like that. " IRON MEN WOODEN BOATS" it has a nice ring to it. I will mention that for sure.

FRANK;
THE ONLY REASON I MENTIONED IT WAS FROM A DOUBLE EXPOSURE PHOTO OF A RAILWAY CAR TRANSPORTING MY FATHER FROM MELVILLE TO TREASURE ISLAND. IT WAS PAINTED ON THE SIDE. (CIRCA: JUNE, 1945)

Dear Message Board & Members

I have recieved word from Zippo and some very nice Art Work on the Brushed Chrome Lighter. The logo looks very impressive. Here is the problem. Zippo charges a one time set up fee of $125.00 for the Art Work and will only make the lighters if I come up with 50 orders. The lighters will sell for $14.95, so that is $747.50. I have approched Alyce Guthrie with the idea in hopes that PT Boats Inc. might be interested in buying the 50 lighters and selling them in the Ships store. At this time she has refused my proposal for reasons that do make sence. Unless we can find someone willing to put some up front money for the Lighters, the project is dead in the water. Any ideas would be great. Anyone wanting to see the Lighter and how it will look can E mail me and I will send it out to you. Thanks for your interest......

I'D LIKE TO SEE THE PROTOTYPE ZIPPO. I'M TRYING TO COME UP WITH FUNDS TO KEEP THIS PROJECT GOING. I BELIEVE ITS WELL WORTH THE EFFORT. PERSONALLY, I DON'T WANT IT TO DIE.
TRIED TO E-MAIL YOU TWICE AND WAS BLOCKED. COULD YOU E-MAIL THE INFO TO ME PLEASE.

Frank: Like Steve, I'd like to see the project fly to the point I'd kick in $100 bucks if it came down to that.
