Any one working on the European theater boats? Am curious to see if anyone has scratch-built depth-charges or antennae for them...

I have carefully measured from research photo's - but hoping to save a nuch of scratching time...

Thanks In Advance Randy

Randy;
What scale are we talking about? There are many detailing sets out there
for 1/72nd and 1/32-1/35th and there are depth charges that are also sold in these scales.

Hey Ted

Sorry - I'm looking for 1/35 scale Mark 6 charges. That was what the 509 carried in channel operations.

thanks

Oh yeah - the radar was not the same as the one in the 596 kit.

These aren't PT 509, but PT 510 & PT 505 is the best I have. Maybe it will help you . . . .

To answer the dept charge question, U-Models in Europe did a very nice set of depth charges for this boat in 1/35. I would contact them directly since their best supplier, Blast Models, is out of them. They were fast sellers. You wont see them on the U-Models web site but they can be seen on the Blast Model web site at the below link. Hopefully you can still pick some up from U-Models directly.

Interesting picture of the 505. It looks like they applied one of the prescribed Navy camo measures to this particular boat. Looking at other examples it appears that they were initially painted a modified Measure 16 (ref. Dr. Ross' book Allied Coastal Forces) Thayer Blue 5B overall with Deck Blue 20B (deck only). However looking at Chun's book on page 53 there is a wonderful picture of boats 503, 504, and 518 tied up together. No two painted exactly alike either. But they appear to be painted with a similar camo measure as the 505? I'll post a separate question for Dr. Ross and John Snyder.
