MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. (AP) — Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Wednesday the high-seas pirate drama shows why the Pentagon should buy more affordable ships, planes and weapons even if they are not perfect.

I say we ship a couple of Squadrons of 80' ELCO's to Somalia.

Gary;
If they do, being a boat guy, I will be one of the first to volunteer!

Sorry Gary and Ted,
But the only available operating PT Boats to send in these modern times would be 78 foot Higgins PT Boats!!!! (as we all know, the better boat!) Just so that you know. Jerry

Higgins, The Other Gray Boat...

I say we go cheaper, 8' R/C models loaded with C-4. Every cargo ship could afford to carry a few.

Jerry;
When are you guys finally going to open that floating box of yours and let the ELCO out into the fresh air? Just kidding, you guys set the benchmark in restorations, I hope the next restorations will be able to follow suit.
Take care,

Just so you guys know. I just hit the Massachusetts Lottery for 37 Million Bucks. As we speak I am having 2 Elco Boats built from scratch. When completed (in another 2 months), I will need a good crew to man the guns and torpedoes, so we can kick the crap out of those Pirats of the high Sea's. WATCH OUT HERE COME THE PT BOATS once again!!!!!!

I think Ron Paul has an interesting idea about handling the Pirates off the coast of Somalia. Instead of having our Navy spend millions of dollars to chase these guys down he suggests putting a bounty on their heads and allowing mercenaries to go cash in.

Gary and Frank;
Gary, that really does sound like a good idea, and since most of the worlds current mercs are from the former soviet/eastern block countries we really won't need to send anybody in!
Frank, if you are offering positions for volunteers, I am qualified to fill the positions of Skipper, Exec. 3rd officer, since I was a boat captain.
Take care,

Ted & Steve

I knew I could count on you old Navy guys to step forward. Steve, I bet you could still knock the hell out of those Pirates with those twin 50's. Boy, would those guys s--t their pants seeing 2 80 foot armed PT Boats bearing down on them at flank speed. Hey Ted, I can see the gleam in your eyes from here.

Glen, we would be happy to add you to the Squadron. I have officially named it SQUADRON 50, because most of us are close to that age or over, Ha, Ha. SQUADRON NAME "The Over the Hill Gang". Our motto, "We may be old, but our boats are plenty tough".

Hey Frank,
If the position is still open I will volunteer for the engine room. I have had some experience running these big Packards. Besides I am relatively young and can handle the gear shifting! Jerry

Jerry,

Thats just perfect. We need a young bright engineer that can keep us going. In case you want to join the Squadron, we will be happy to use your Higgins. Can she hit 40 knots yet?

How about a Skull and Cross bones with a Red Circle around it and a red line drawn throughit?

Or a Skull & Crossbones framed in the sights of twin fifties?

Caption under can read, "PIRACY DOESN'T PAY" or "MESS WITH THE BEST AND SINK LIKE THE REST".

Cheers from Peter

I love it, lets see if any of you talented guys can come up with a new Patch, and then post it here. I would buy one for sure. They would be special, something that only we crazed PT BOAT NUTS would appreciate. How great would that be.............I still need more of you guys to sign on.

Disney, ever concerned with passenger safety, shows off their planned new cruiser. Note the twin 40mm's topsides fore and aft.
