The attached link will take you to a 79 minute WGBH video of a forum entitled
Conversation with World War II PT Boat Veterans held and the JFK Library & Museum on June 27, 2005. It kind of follows the post concerning PT 109.

Enjoy this interesting conversation..............

Hi Don,
Thanks for posting this it is a very interesting video. I put the link in clickable format here. http://forum.wgbh.org/node/1953

Maurice Kowal, Dick Keresay, Red Faye, and Bill Battle answer numerous questions. Bill Battle speaks about PT167 being torpedoed and the LCI with the torpedo in the engineroom incident. Maurice Kowal speaks about being on PT 59 and rescuing the Marines off Choseul Island, and Red Fay also sings Hooray for Hollywood at the end. Great video! Thanks again Don! Jerry

G'Day Roger,
I just finished watching it too,its very good eh.Informative and in places funny. They seem like great blokes.
If you click on the link to start the video,at the bottom of the page is an option to Share/Save,if you click this you can save it to your Favourites then if you want, you should be able to copy it to disc from there.I dont think it should infringe any copyright, otherwise they wouldnt have that option.
Cheers Mate

Don: Thanks for posting the video. I was pleased to listen to these old P.T. Boaters with their interview. I especially enjoyed hearing from Mr. Kowal. Our 242 berthed in the bushes with his 59 boat at Lambu Lambu Cove on Vella La Vella. He mentions having pancakes for 20 straight days. I recall that very well. What he didn't say was they were served with orange marmalade - no syrup. He mentions picking up the marines off Chosuel. Our boat was out that night but on a different patrol. The 236, a Ron 19 boat, was with them. The 236 towed them back to Lambu when they ran out of gas. Thanks Again.

CJ

Your comment about the marmalade made me remember the cooking discussion on this board over a year ago. Randy Willis (your son or grandson I presume) posted a recipe for salmon with orange mamalade basting. I tried it, and just thought I'd share my opinion with all -- ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. It's a regular showing on my diet, but certainly not for 20 straight days. Here's the recipe again, with the original message, for those who might want to give it a try:

Frank,

You and your wife deserve a good recipe for all your effort so I'm going to share with you one of my favorites in honor of Earl and C.J. It might change their opinion of ... orange marmalade.
Salmon with Orange Marmalade

2 single portion salmon filets with skin removed
1/2 cup orange marmalade
2 garlic cloves crushed
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
1 green onion chopped
toasted sesame seeds

Mix the marmalade, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and vinegar and baste both sides of the salmon reserving a little for basting later. Grill the salmon on foil using the rest of the marinade when turning the salmon. When done sprinkle the salmon with the onion and sesame seeds before serving.

Serve your donuts for dessert!!

Ed,

If you liked the marmalade recipe you will love this one. My dad, C.J. brought this one back from a trip to Kauai with my mother several years ago and it his specialty:

Kauai Tidepools Sauce for Salmon

2 Tablespoons Butter
1 Minced shallot
1 Tablespoon Lime Juice
1 Teaspoon Minced Ginger
3-4 Tablespoons Grand Marnier Liquor
1/4-1/2 cup cream

Season Salmon filets with salt, pepper, olive oil and lemon juice and dried tarragon before grilling. Melt butter and saute shallot until clear over medium heat. Add Grand Marnier, lime juice and ginger and stir a minute or two. Add cream and reduce heat to simmer. Serve over grilled salmon or any good fish.

Just in case you get tired of the orange marmalade. Enjoy!

I enjoyed that forum very much. Seeing Mr. Kowal at a somwwhat younger age then when I interviewed him was nice. He pretty much told me the same things. Its so nice to listen to these guys tell their story, which is a good reason for some of you PT BOATERS to record your stories or write them down before you forget...............
