Is there any record of PT 558 serving in the South Pacific late in the war? I can only find information of this boat being at Melville and in the Med but my father served on her in the South Pacific theatre.

Thanx, Dave.

I'm sorry sir.

But, PT-558 was an unit of Squadron 29, which was originally slated to be deployed to the Pacific but had its orders changed to be deployed to the Med and after its tour there was over, most of its boats were transferred to the Soviet Navy but a few boats (the 558 included) were retained by Squadron 4 at Melville. The 558 never saw action or service in the Pacific.
