» Topic: LAST REUNION
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=1067

I RECEIVED MY COPY OF "ALL HANDS" MAGAZINE ESTERDAY, VETERAN'S DAY. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS HAS VOTED TO MAKE 2010 THE LAST PT-BOATERS REUNION DUE TO ISSUES OF AGE AND DISTANCE. ONLY 71 ACTUAL VETERANS MADE IT TO THIS YEAR'S REUNION (OF 232 ATTENDEES). VERY SAD NEWS.
SPEAKING AS A BABY-BOOMER, I THINK IT'S A BAD IDEA FOR THE GREATEST GENERATION TO GO OFF AND LET US RUN THE PLANET WITH A 2-FRONT WAR AND A RECESSION GOING ON.
WE'RE GONNA NEED A LOT MORE PT BOATS THIS TIME AROUND.

Its always a sad thing when something like this is announced. Father time stops for no one however, and the reality is in the numbers. Many PT BOAT VETS can no longer afford the reunions, and health issues have made it near impossible to attend. The good News from these numbers is that a few hundred did make the trip. This tells me that there are many who will keep the fires burning. I can not speak for anyone else, but for me, I will do everything I can to keep the PT BOATS in he public eye. My Exhibits do so much to educate those who know little about the boats and the men who manned them.

Over the years, you PT BOATERS have donated many items to my Exhibit. I will do everything in my power to show those items to as many I can. PT BOATS will live on forever............................

I plan on attending the 2010 reunion in Warwick, Rhode Island as well as my Dad. He wants to be there for the last one. Frank, I hope you plan on attending!

Believe me it was a hard decision to make. Lots of emotions over this. But unfortunately, time marches on. But PT Boats is not going away. We'll still be here promoting the history and accomplishments of the Mosquito Fleet.

By the way, who's that goofy looking guy on the front cover?

My father and I plan on going...Pop would have been sad to hear the end of the reunions. I'm also looking into DC this July...although it is the weekend before I get married! All of a sudden I have to run plans past another person in my life

I have never been to one reunion. There always seems to be something going on in my life that keeps me from going. I hope to go for the last one, to meet everyone. That should be fun, and it's not too far from where I live, so we shall see.........
