Greetings,
I'm kicking around some ideas for the display case I'll use for my PT-109 model. Does anyone have or know of a good 1/72 lilne drawing of this boat, preferably as manufacturered?

The several photos of the 109 being shipped out aboard the Stanton, available at the mother site, would be cool. Maybe set up on mini easels.

The outboard profile plan has "109" on the turret but the depth charges aren't shown. It's also a bit more than a drawing since shading is applied.

The inboard and outboard profile plans with their views of inner structures would be sweet. Length of these may be more appropriate too since they are half-sized. Width of the drawings, minus text, is about 30".

I BELIEVE the depth charges on the 109 were a field modification and not fitted to the boat at the factory.

It looks like you're right Garth, Gene has a side shot of the 109 on his site being shipped out without them. Thanks for the heads-up.

The depth charges on the 109's foredeck seem to have been added to the boat late in it's battle career.

There are only two photos of the boat I've ever seen with the depth charges on it. The primary one is the "PT 109 on a mission off Guadalcanal" photo published in Donovan's "PT 109 - John F. Kennedy in World War II," and republished in Ballard's "Collision With History - The Search for John F. Kennedy's PT 109." This damaged photo is the best visual evidence of what the boat looked like under JFK (or, at least the boat forward of the middle of the stern tubes - the undamaged portion of the photo). There is another photo in Ballard's book, taken from the 109's foredeck, of PT 61 close to port, and the 109's port depth charge (very close to the 109's port forward torpedo tube) can be seen clearly at the bottom of the photo.

I believe those photos were taken from JFK's personal photo album, when he was skipper of the 109, so it stands to reason the depth charges were present on the boat during the last few months of it's service life - if not before.
