I think one thing, Jerry's photos and discerptions show, is how hard it is to keep these boats in the water! Without a dedicated crew and money, it just isn't posable! Perhaps in the future PT-305 will get the same love, tell then, she is at least safe. Cheers, Dennis

I was down to the boat today and ran into Ron Taylor, our professional retired painter and Jack of all trades. He was brushing on the red anti fouling paint to the bottom and I asked him about the progress and plans. So everything went well with riveting new planks in place and the re caulking is done and the replacement of the interior bilge stringers and floors is just now finished. So Walt coordinated plans with the shipyard and the crane operators, and we are planning to re-launch on Thursday May 18th. Just some last minute details are all that is left to do. I will update you when it is closer to the big day!

I just had a chance to read through the Save The PT Boat, special mid-year update. Whomever puts it together does a great job of keeping us informed of the status of the boat. It's not cheap to put out that information, let alone keep the boat going. Great volunteers with this group. I just sent in a small donation and I hope you all consider doing the same.

The boat was relaunched May 22 and then took part in Portland’s Tose Festival Fleet Week during the first week of June. We took several crewmen from the visiting USN active duty ships aboard for a couple of rides. I was out of town so I missed out this year, but our President Bill Weaver told me things went really well. So now the boat is floating in the water and safely back in her boathouse museum at Swan Island lagoon.
