lol Frank, he DOES look a bit like Bobby Darin!

Now, on the side walk, ooh Sunday morning, uh huh
Lies a body just oozing life. EEK!
And someone's sneaking round the corner
Could that someone be Mack the Torpedo?

Wow Will, I looked up $3,000 in 1963 dollars:

'$3,000 in 1963 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $25,645.29 today'

Not bad! I wonder what your model would be appraised at today, given its history. Maybe close to that 25 grand? When Frank buys it from you, you should give him a break and knock off a hun or 2. You can always make it back on the shipping.

Darn you . . . Frank D Johnson and Jeff Davidson . . . I can’t get “Mack the Knife” out of my mind and have been sadly singing it all day . . . darn you guys.

Below I found this photo evidently many people have been trying to figure which person in he dark suit is the real Will Day and who is the real Bobby Darin (Walden Robert Cassotto) - hmmmmmmmm . . . .

LMAO well done Dick! He blends in perfectly. Remind me to never get on the bad side of a graphic artist! Not that poor Will did anything, he's just a victim here. I think we're all just jealous Will!

Yah Dick that song has been popping up in my mind too, argh. Especially after reading what the lyrics are about. It made me go "Huh???":

"Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht wrote this song in 1928 for the German play The Threepenny Opera. "Mack" is Macheath, the title character, portrayed as a criminal. The light melody can make this feel like an upbeat song, but it contrasts sharply with the lyrics, which are about a serial killer."

Reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Arsenic And Old Lace, which when you get literal, is about four mass murderers! My favorite lines are: Dr. Einstein : You cannot count the one in South Bend. He died of pneumonia!

Jonathan Brewster : He wouldn't have died of pneumonia if I hadn't shot him!

Dr. Einstein : No, no, Johnny. You cannot count him. You got twelve, they got twelve. The old ladies is just as good as you are!

Let me first apologize to Will - he has a great deal of patients, is gracious, and has a very good-nature. Thanks for letting us poke some fun your way Will, sorry.

To even the score Will, here is a cartoon of myself, drawn by Hal Heimlich* (Cartoonist & Actor & Technical Illustrator). He was trying to capture my mythical “heroics” as a fullback with my jersey number 44 with SHORT added, all the while the cheerleaders were trying to spell out my name, in a typical cheer of by-gone days. The 44-Short is an inside joke and the cartoon was created as a group-card for my 23rd Birthday. I was a very young “Hot Shot” art department manager at the time . . .

* Hal Heimlich (Cartoonist, Actor & Technical Illustrator) worked for me in my first military project group (1971), illustrating technical manuals on the giant Lockheed C-5A Galaxy, C-130 Hercules, P-3 Orion, S-3A Viking and the Grumman F-14 Tomcat.
In these very early days of the group, all my illustrators were at least 10 to 30-years older than myself, their department manager, and sometimes referred to as “The Kid”.

Jeff . . .
I only spent about 20-minutes on the photoshopping and photo search for Darin. I would give this photo manipulation a C or C-, there are a lot minor issues. But, but if I took an a couple hours or more like three, then you should worry. At first I kept Darins own blow-styled hair, but when I added Will’s “pomade” hairdo to Darin’s image, the picture became more dramatic.
