Drew;
I haven't read that book in years, I will have to revisit it. It is more of a biography than a novel.
Take care,

These are great. I just love to see new unpublished photos. I wonder how may hundreds are still undiscovered stored away in albums or trunks and forgotten about.

Yes, I know what is happening, I'll get hold of Gene and tell him how to correct the issue with his site. Since I host his site I took an "inside" look at it and found an easy fix.

Hi Will. I am a new member. My father who recently passed was on the 168. I believe it was Ron 10? He often went to the PT reunions and visited his mate's. As far as I know he was the last. They no longer have reunions. Sad...not many left. As soon as I figure out how to post photos I will. I don't even know which type of boat it was. It doesn't look like an Elco though. I was in the Navy as well. Thanx and i look forward to reading more of your posts.we're you on a boat?

Vince,
Go to the NavSource website, and under Patrol Craft, find the PT boat section.
There's a list of all the PTs placed in service with the Navy, and when you click on the PT 168 listing, five photos come up, one of the crew grouped on and in front of the charthouse.
PT 168 was (originally) a zebra-striped 80' Elco PT, assigned to Ron 10 in the Solomon Islands. It was involved and damaged in the friendly-fire incident with AAF B-25s that sank PT 166, Ensign Barney Ross's boat (he was the exec), which was why Ross was unattached and hitched a ride with JFK on PT 109 the night the 109 was lost.
