Ted,

Sorry to be bother to you. I have two more requests if you would be so good.

The Seabee archives do not have that photo either. The head archivist there is Gina Nichols and I am certain she would like to talk to you about a scan also.

Nichols, Gina L. CIV NHHC, CB Museum

Lastly, I have been working on the Seabee Wikipedia article and very much would like to post that image, I expect that you own it and thought I would ask. It is a case a photo is better than a 1000 words and it is. Thank you again,
Brian

Brian;
Roger that. Since you are working on a SEABEE article, many of the early NCDU's and UDT 1, 2, were SEABEE's. UDT 3 was made up of predominantly SEABEE volunteers from NTB Camp Bradford, which is part of NAB Little Creek, Today it is called Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek Fort Story(JEBLCFS). UDT 13 was also a predominantly SEABEE team. UDT 14 was the first all Navy Team, meaning all volunteers were USN( some had Army and Marine volunteers as well as SEABEES. UDT 10 was an all O.S.S. team) from fleet assignments(prior 12 months overseas, and participated in at least 1 major invasion, were requirements for this team). To add to your information Brian, if you haven't found it already, go to this website:http://www.navyfrogmen.com/NavalSpecialWarfareArchive.html
Take care,
TED

Thank you.
Interesting stuff-

Information I had was that the first six NCDU classes graduated from "Area E" NTC Camp Peary (seabees had their dynamiting and demolition school there I believe and it provided the source for the "demolitioneers name- I think) and then the program was moved to Fort Pierce as the S&R school had moved there and the waters were warmer.

I happened to run across your forum. Sergei K Aalto was my father and he never spoke of his time as a UDT member. I have seen the USN photo and a Post magazine photo that identified him and noted with interest the operations he participated in that were mentioned by Ted Walther. How do I find out more about his service details? Thanks.
