Just a couple clarifications. The Model Master paints are enamels, not acrylics. Dave's excellent model is painted in the original s built scheme of Standard Navy Gray (5) hull with Dark Gray (5-D) deck and superstructure.

Thanks for the clarification Al. So if my notes are correct Measure 13 is Haze Gray (5-H) and Deck Blue (20-B). If you do want to go with an acrylic paint a good reference recommends the following:
5-H (September 1941 - June 1942) - Vallejo 70-905
5-H (1944-1945) - Vallejo 70-870
20-B Vallejo 70-867 or 70-900

Based on the online paint chips for 5-H and the photos, I think they could both stand some lightening with white paint. The 20-B is tough to tell. But looking at my Snyder & Short chip set the 867 is closer. Adding some light gray would make for a nice scale effect.
