Regarding the 109 movie boats, can anyone tell me which of the former ASR boats were rebuilt for the movie props? I have seen different information from several sources stating they were both the 63' and 85' depending who was telling the story.
From the movie and that still I tend to believe they were the 63' boats that were modified. To my eye they were smaller than a real Elco, not nearly large enough to be 5' longer than an Elco.

Per Dr. Al Ross, the boats were 85' "A.C. Wooden Rescue boats," Design # 379.

Drew had sent this, a newspaper article using the same photo but watermarked with Miami Herald, See below, also the actual caption from the photo:
Here's the full caption of the photo, credited to "Bob East/Miami Herald Staff,"
6/10/62 - - Just wait. Looking somewhat out of place creeping slowly up the Miami River instead of churning up the ocean in an attack on a foreign vessel, a reproduction of the PT boat commanded by President Kennedy in World War II heads to the boatyard for final outfitting. The boat is being made for a movie "PT 109," to be filmed in the Keys this summer. So just wait. The quiet-looking vessel you see here will, on the screen, be anything but.
