With not too much photographic evidence Dave, what did you use to judge how the LCM would ride next to the PT BOAT. When Stan begins my 1/35 PT boat and LCVP, I am curious as to how low or high she is supposed to sit in the water. I take it both the LCM and the LCVP were flat bottom craft, so when I get the kit, and Stan takes off the bottom of the hull, we will have to see how they ride next to each other.

As I am going to depict injured Marines transferring from one boat to the other, I wonder if they shut down engines, and threw lines to make the transfer safe, or the PT BOAT just kept the engines out of gear but running. I suspect they may have got together, using fenders and made the transfer. Because I have no photos showing this actual transfer, we will have to do the best we can. With my other Sub Diorama and PT-108, it was easier as I had seen pilot transfers before from subs to other boats. In any event, it should be a fun build. What did you paint the LCM Dave, just a typical gray?

Dave that is so AWESOME. You have to be very proud of your work and man I love the book you did of the build to go along with the presentation. Now that is First Class work all around.

Thanks again guys. I was very pleased with the book. If you're going to compete I think it's helpful to display parts showing how you made your models and/or books showing how you put it together. In my case telling a story is key so I think getting all that down about the actual event and the veteran behind the inspiration was important. If you're going to display a model I think it's equally as helpful which is the main reason I did the book.

Frank, the LCM's were painted 5-O Ocean Gray based on information I believe I received from Al Ross. As for how the boats ride in the water I went strictly by photographs. I found that helpful enough. I would not recommend trying to sand down the bottoms of the LCM's or LCVP's. They should sit down into the water. The only way I could get that to work was by using the foam and digging out where the boat would sit.

Thanks again for your comments guys. It means a lot!
Dave
