Earl, or whoever, the location "Bobon, Samar".... was this on the very north end of Samar or was it the base on the south end near Guiuan?
i know its very common for place names to be duplicated between islands in the philippines, i trying to nail down the geographical location.
thanks.

Steve;
That is not PT 72, that is ASR-72, your portholes statement had my interest, so I enlarged the photo.
Take care,

Thanks Earl. That fits with what I assumed was the case.
When I was there last year I tried to find the exact spot of the PT base location. Not much luck I'm afraid. I've been looking for a map from the war years that might be more precise but no luck so far on that. I'll be heading back to Cebu/Leyte/Samar this winter to see if I can do any better.
When I was in Guiuan last year I visited the church you mention. Amazingly enough, going by my dad's photos of it in 1944/1945, it really hasn't changed that much.
Thanks again,
Mark

From what I can see on this @#$%2 Mac I have at work, 72 looks like a 63' ARB (crash boat). Will blow it up on a real computer tonight to confirm.

Earl,
That's what I've been working off of. One book says it was about 10 miles from Guiuan. Sound about right to you?
