I reference to the other post, Notice PT 195 also has no armor plate at rear of cockpit.

Here's another photo of the XO (Mr Davies) and you can make out the forward air ID (star).

I wonder what that structure/housing is that the helmet is sitting on. I don't recall seeing that before.

David;
Yes that "box" is in most of the photos I have of 195, if I were to venture a guess, it is the correct size for spare .50 cal barrels, possibly for the Maxon mount.( While I know this was not always the case in WWll, you are supposed to change the barrels out after so many rounds when the barrels heat up, or you risk having a catastrophic failure, ie: the rounds going through the side of the barrel for example.). however, I could be wrong, and it might only have some line in it, or maybe the crews fishing poles??
Take care,

Hi,
I am working up to the 195 being my next project and collecting bits and pieces including the Dragon Models quad mount. What colour do you all reckon the torpedoes are? They look satin black with grey warheads.
Best Regards,
Stu.

Stuart;
In the small photos yes, they do look very dark, a thicker coating of grease, however, in my "underway" photo, they are definitely silver(bare metal with lighter coating on them), obviously they either had the torpedoes replaced between my photo and the two smaller ones or the grease just wore off as time went by. Gray warheads or Green would be appropriate.
Take care,
