Don't mean to put the cart before the horse, but...any news on a seperate Italeri "PT 109" 1/35th scale crew-figure set?
Just had another random thought...hope they've engineered the kit so the forward ends of the tubes can be placed in launching position(s).
Yet another...hope in addition to the 37mm gun (and 2''x 8'' plank mounts?) they'll include complete parts for a standard 103-class 80' Elco, some of which were apparently missing or not used on the 109...

Hi there.
What was missing from the 109 that was on other early 103 Class boats?
Cheers

Let's see...
1) The binnacle on the chart house.
2) The search light mount on the port side of the cockpit.
3) The light which mounts on the bow fairlead
4) The class A frame mast. (It could be that it was removed and used when necessary but I've not seen a picture of the 109 with a mast in theatre.)
That's all that comes to mind at the moment. Anyone else?
Dave

Dave just about covered it...
The main part I was thinking of is the searchlight pintle mount on the port cockpit splash shield, as he mentioned. I've never seen that part represented on any manufactured model of a 103-class Elco, in any scale.
Don't know if the searchlight's pole-mount was present on the 109...it doesn't show up in the few known photos of the boat under JFK, but...as I said, I hope all the standard parts for a PT 109 103-class Elco will be included, to be used or not, as the modeler sees fit.

Does the box art, other than the 37 mm) look like a standard 103 Class boat? If it does maybe we'll get luck and have all of the needed parts inside for a standard boat.
Cheers

Don't see the searchlight pintle mount on the box art...depth charges are too far forward (for the 109 - as usual)...too much rigging on the "A"-frame mast...
But...the classic Revell 1/72nd scale kit's box art had the boat colored gray, red torpedo warheads, and, if I remember correctly, a canvas splash skirt on the aft twin-.50 turret -- which wasn't represented in the kit.
Can't really go by the box art...

I just heard back from Italeri today and they are about 20 days out from shipping. Just in time for the holidays! I just reviewed the included booklet and they did a very nice job with it as well. I can't wait to see what you all do with this kit!

Oh, Stan will just jump for joy if you get more than one, Frank. He was probably looking for something to fill his spare time.

He just loves the work I give him, besides you never know when he might retire, so I have to keep building. I could send you some projects, but I don't know if I can wait until 2023.
