Now, Dave, when you say up on the bow behind the cleat, do you mean the deck Bitt, or behind one of the Port or Stbd cleats? I dont believe there was a centered on bow cleat was there?

Slide it up and center it about where that guy is sitting and that's where Mr. Keresey said the gun was. Just right behind the bit wood cleat.

Will,
Great shot of the mid-war PT 108. Thanks for posting it.

Michael, is your 1:16 project going to be r/c? If so, have you decided on the power package? I am also collecting bits and pieces for a 1:16 scale boat.

Well, both Mr. Keresey and Mr. Iles both told me independently that their boat was gray. Mr. Keresey described it as "battleship gray". Not a real color but a good indication that she was painted Measure 1, which would be Navy 5D Dark gray all over. The panel behind the helm was removed to reduce weight. Mr. Keresey didn't paint over the glass on his boat. No depth charges. She had SO Radar. If you're building her as she appeared with the .50 on the foredeck behind the bit then that's how she looked. No major changes to speak of.
Have fun with your build. Looking forward to seeing your work.
Dave
