I have shipped out the PT 374 diorama HQ grass shack to Alex Johnson on Friday and he should be getting it any day now. Once the shack is added things should start moving very quickly with the project.
The A-frame carpenters shack is also nearing completion! I'm scratching out some of the carpenter benches, miniature tools and so one for this structure. I have one side completely 'thatched" with sea straw matting material and I think it looks very authentic. I really need to get the shack finished and all the details done and shipped out by this coming Saturday.
I know what you guys are thinking,n yepper I'm retired so I have plenty of time to work on my modeling! Watch this board for updates folks! It won't be long before you see this entire diorama come together!
To everyone who has commented on the HQ shack- "THANK YOU KINDLY!!"

The wonderful Grass shack headquarters that Frank Ryczek built for this project arrived at Alex Johnson's house. Here is a sneak look at it on the Diorama base. It will be glued into this position although not 100% positive about the figures and truck you see here. I think it looks Beautiful and once we have added scrub brush, bushes, and Palm Trees should really look great.
THANKS FRANK

New Carpenters Shop is just about completed. Frank R. should be sending photos soon. Will post here so you guys can check it out. Alex Johnson has attached Grass Shack Headquarters and will begin planting Palm Trees, and others jungle plants this evening. Plans for day after Chrstmas unveiling are planned, as family of Wallace McNeish will see Diorama for the first time. This is an exciting time for all involved...........

That Headquarters looks great! where is this supposed to be? If Bouganville you can make the John Paul Jones sign.
Maybe you might also want to give some thought to a CDR Richie figure with Yeoman 2/c Schnebby running out the door with a "new" Memo, to be posted on the bulletin board about tonights movie, fresh off the type writer. Also a monkey chained up in the corner, just in case Schnebby wants to be replaced.
Enjoy, it is really looking great!!
Take care,
TED

You can see Schnebby sitting on the fron steps taking a much needed rest from all the yelling. More work has been done with Alex putting in more of those wonderful Palm Trees, Trees, Bushes, and scrub that Frank Ryczek made. When we finish with this corner of the Diorama, I will have Alex snap more photos for the board. Carpenters Shack as you know is completed, and on it's way to Alex, with 2 dozen more regular trees made by Frank. Once the carpenters shack is placed, we will move right along towards our goal.

Just an update on our PT-374 Memorial Project. The Carpenters shack has arrived at Alex Johnson's home and we are in the process of putting it on the board. In these enclosed photo's that shack is in the spot I want it to be. Next will be trees, palm trees, bushes, and other items to complete this project. Completed photos will be on PT BOAT message board as soon as project is completed. Hope you like the progress thus far.

A huge "THANKS" and "WAY TO GO" to Frank Ryczek for the two buildings, trees, vehicles, figures any numerous pieces of equipment going into the diorama. Not only has be created the amazing Shack and Carpenter Shop, he has also coached me through my first venture at diorama-making. Thank you to my friend Frank. I hope he and Frank Andruss are happy when this project wraps up in the next few weeks. ALEX

Beautiful. Make sure you put a bush or something to cover the dead guy by the bulletin board.

Hey to all-
It's really neat to see this diorama come together now that all of the components are completed. The fun part of this project for me was making the HQ shack and the carpenter's shack. Honest guys, I just had this image in my head and went with it. I had no idea how the finished products would turn out. These two structures were built on a shoestring budget.
Please remember that a vast majority of these items were only "placed" on the base of the diorama and actually need to be glued down. Most of the main pieces will be moved about somewhat until we get the actual "feeling" we like and go with that.
There are some 60 plus custom made "fruit bearing" palm trees plus another 3 dozen leafy trees that still need to be introduced into the diorama to give it that "jungle" look anfd feel. All I did mostly was make the props for the settings. Alex and Frankie A. will determine where everything will go and set the stage.
Most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, that this was a "long range" project meaning that dedicated modelers from CT., VA. . and myself here in FL. and well as ol' Frank A. in Mass. directing this project all coming together as "ONE"!! I can't wait until the last detail is added and the case put in place. My only regret is that I won't be able to attend the unveiling of this project. But you can "bet your boots" I'll be there in spirit!
This has been a "fun ride" for me! I was glad to be able to help out with this amazing one-of-a kind diorama. A special "thanks" goes out to Alex Johnson, Stan Pienkowski, and Frankie (Dallas) Andruss. Thanks again guys!
