Frankie, the last time I gave you crisp new bills for a project, it fell apart because you insisted in having your picture on the 100s....

Perhaps we'll get lucky and the buyer will scan it in and share. But I figure that's as likely as Frank taking a sudden dislike to PT boats.

As non-physical protection, there's no better insurance policy for a document that I can think of...

Jeff

A dislike for PT BOATS? BITE YOUR TOUNGE, the very thought makes me weak in the knees. It would be nice to have someone scan the book, but it depends on the new buyer and the condition of the book. I hate scanning any of the rare books or paper stock I have unless I feel very comfortable about doing so. I wanted to scan one of the Cmdr. Alan Montgomery books, but decided against it, as one mistake and boom, History gets wreaked..................

Frank, scanning shouldn't harm a document. You wouldn't want to mash a book down on the bed hard and break the spine though...

Here's a link Ray:

Ahoy there mates.

There is another alternative to scanning a book. I used this when I was doing research at museums that did not allow bright light to come in contact with their documents or photographs.

I used a 35mm camera (without flash) and took pictures of what I wanted and needed. With a digital camera this is even easier and it can actually be faster than scanning.

Cheers from Peter

Geez, I hope it's someone who's friendly to PT'ers. That's some valuable information that shouldn't be tucked away from researchers.
