Very well said Earl. I lived with 10 guys aboard 242 for 13 months. We had a few disagreements but very few. We knew we had to get along - we had no other choice. What few of us that are left, we keep in contact and are best of friends. I do hope Russ and Pat will reconcile their differences. Life is too short for grudges. I hope they will continue to contribute to this board. We need their input. Not many of us left.

Board members:
This is already gotten way out of hand! If you got an issue, TAKE CARE OF IT AT THE DECKPLATE LEVEL! In other words, as far as this board is concerned, that means OFF LINE. You may ask why? Because stuff like this only gets worse.
I don't know if this was a misunderstanding, miscommunication, or whatever but it should be a "miss on this board"! Let's just blow it off to something like operator error.
Pat and Russ, both of you have been hard core boat operators! You are "THE ORIGINALS". You guys lived what they taught me and you have both seen your own visions of combat and hell, I can relate to that, in my generation I was in your business for 12 years and all over, South America getting shot at, Europe, East Africa, and the Persian Gulf. Today your part of the Navy is called Naval Special Warfare/Specail Boat Unit/Teams. I was an operator in SBU 24, SBU 20, SBR-2, SBU26. In my opinion, for what it is worth, you two have so much in common as operators, you can over look minor discrepancies or misunderstandings.
Take care,
TED
P.S. If you both want to rip me up one side and down the other becasue you both have "time in rate" over me, my e-mail is LTWALTHER2@aol.com

Pat-
I to am a 2nd Generation PT Boater and welcom any and all information I can find, receive, and apply to my Dad's time on the 221 Boat in the Phillipines. Mike Crawford said it best when he said that we as teenagers, never really comprehended or cared to hear much of our Dads stories, but now as adults, we have nothing but the utmost respect for the PT Boaters who served our Country during an extremely difficult time. I was in the Army as an MP a few years back and am proud to have served, although not during Wartime. My point being.......even as a fellow Veteran such as I, we can still only imagine what it was like during the Big War, but can relate and understand what men like you tell us and describe to us. I miss my father dearly and wish I could have listened better back then. You boys are the only ones who can explain things from back then. This is getting long-winded, so I will just say: "Pat, please keep giving us info and stories. Believe me, WE ARE ALL EARS." I drink a toast to all of you boys who served.
