Hi
As we all know the 1/72nd scale revell model is the best, why couldn't they have leased or sold the rights, or what ever they do to Revell so Revell could have produced a 1/32nd scale boat?
The Lindberg kit is only good for a start off point, it needs so much work, it would take 2-3 months to finish properly. I mean a couple of hours everyday! I have done it, even the bow looks like crap and has to be reworked.
The 1/72nd scale is the best, besides the larger models such as the pro built 1/20th scale model.
Take care,
TED

Hi there Ted.

What all did you do to the bow? Just fill in the S-curve on the stem? Add a bit of height to the reverse sheer?

Cheers from PEterTareBuilder

Certainly no builder, I had purchased the Lindberg Kits when they first came out. Putting them together, I thought they were the cats Meow. That is until I became more versed on the PT Boats and realized what a terrible model it was. In looking at the Hull, I would think it more resembles the HIGGINS hull that an Elco. Have any of you modelers tried making the Kit into a Higgins? I bet it would take tons of work ( scratchbuilding).

The old PT 109 Kits were ceratinly the best out. Although some problems were evident with the Kit, I think it remains a pretty good deal some 40 years after it arrived on the market. My good friend Stan Pienkowski used 2 of the Revell kits in my FEMU DIORAMA. With some work such as changing the 50's, getting rid of the Tubes, added the SO Radar, and puting 40's on the stern, they look prety impressive. It would be awesome if Italri woul come out with their own 1/72 scale boats in both Elco and Higgins designs..........

Hey to all my buddy scale boat modelers on the board-

Hey Garth! After I sent a "boat load" (excuse the pun) of pictures to Frank Andruss for consideration regarding my 1/32 scale Tulagi diorama, ol' Frank sent them along to Dick who then published them on a Photobucket listing under the PT Boats heading. My heartfelt thanks once again to Frank A and to Dick from this board. Thanks guys!

here is the link to the Diorama pictures-
go on Google then type in-
Photobucket PT Diorama Tulagi Frank Ryczek

This will bring up 19 shots of different angle shots of my diorama including my newest section- the sick bay on Tulagi! The sick bay is completely scratch built- took me over a year to produce from a very fuzzy xerox which was sent to me by a PT vet from California who was on Tulagi. As for the rest of the diorama- going on some 13 + years and still tweaking!

Thanks again!

Frank -

Just wanted to let you know sir; the photos arrived, my family and I were out of state for a few days - hence my delay in getting back to you. At some point I will get them posted on my website, but be patient ... we're dealing with my father's terminal cancer and I am trying to get my old job or find a new job, so things such as my website and my books aren't really that important to me.

But, thank you for sending them to me sir.

Garth
