Hello PT enthusiasts! You may get a kick out of watching the 6 minute video about the PT658 and showing interviews and other famous PT boat photos in the video posted on "Google videos"
Here is a link to it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7693407296698216570&ei=3mPQSMCOIKO6gAP&cgsC
It has a few factual errors, (they call the Packards "airplane" engines, the horsepower is actually 1850, they mixed up the name labels of Dick Lowe and Ken Nissen, and a few others) but overall it is a pretty good video and well worth watching. By the way, since this was filmed we have removed the remote pneumatic gear shift cylinders for the engines and perform that task the old fashioned way...by hand! Just last weekend I was in the engineroom shifting those monsters and it takes about 70 pounds of force to do it.
PS That is me in the red jacket loading the 50 caliber machine gun! Enjoy! Jerry PT658 crew.

Jerry
As I watch this Video, I could not help but shed a tear. Not of sadness, but of joy in seing this boat and listening to those PT BOAT VETS who worked so hard to see theis mammoth project to completion. Just watching PT 658 glide across the water is such a thrill. I can only imagine living close by ( like you ) and getting the chance to see her every day. Thanks so much for always bringing us such wonderful News and Video. I still hope you folks will come out with another Video like we ralked about several months ago. Like Arthur Frongello ( a great friend and HIGGINS CREWMEMBER ) always says. GO GET UM............

Jerry;
I take my hat off to you, John Akin, Russ Hamachek, and the others who did not listen to the negative crap that everyone was sending your way(ie; you will never do it, etc.). remaining positive through the whole ordeal, hell lets face it you guys treated this project just like you would have treated your own boat 64 years ago, if she burns, fix it, if she needs to be beached fix it! I wish I could have done 48 as you guys did 658. but when I started talking like that, the wife was ready to pack up. It is a regret that I did not do it, but at the say time it isn't, because I would be divorced by now with a 77' collection of 60 year old wood, which needs restoring. After 5 kids that is not something you really do. I am glad I sort of found the boat a new home and benefactor, and I am very glad I am still married. Even though I found PT 48 2 years before I met my wife, my wife has given me more, PT 48 has been the most elusive, frustrating, exciting, tantilizing, woman I have ever met........EXCEPT FOR MY WIFE, LYDIA who is all these things and more. Most women don't understand men and thier toys anymore
Thanks Jerry.
