I am trying to locate someone who knew "red" Obie Raymond Chrisman. I am his granddaughter. Does anyone know which PT boat he was on? He was a cook in the navy also. I understand he was also on another ship, He was in San Diego and San Francisco. His brother Joe was also in the Navy at the same time. I was named after him(middle )name. I had lost track of him since i was adopted out in 1957,and never got to see him again. Any help I could good would be great. I am trying to peice as much as Ican about my family since i was able to locate them in 2004. I just found out he was on a PT boat and in the Pacific Theater. thank you in advance for your help. D. Donna, I looked at the rosters that I have for Squadron's 2,3, and 16 and do not find a Chrisman - however there are many other squadrons that he could have served with. I also did a quick search (I am a family history buff too) and found the following. Don't know if you have this information or not:

OBIE RAYMOND CHRISMAN
> Birth: Jul. 26, 1915
Sedalia
Pettis County
Missouri, USA
> Death: Sep. 29, 1965
Wellston
St. Louis County
Missouri, USA
> Burial:
Memorial Park Cemetery
Jennings
St. Louis County
Missouri, USA

By this record, he would have been 25-30 yrs old during the time of WWII.
You might check with Headquarters on this PT Boats Inc site and see if they may have a record of your grandfather. The more you could find out of course, the better.

There is an Obie R Chrisman on the PT Boater list, Listed as being with BASE 25, which would mean he was with the base force, not a Squadron. Doesn't mean he may not have gone out on a patrol or two, but he was assigned to the Base.

Thank you everyone who replied!!! found out from my aunt jo(his youngest child) that he was removed off the boat when they found out he was a cook. the military at that point thought his skill to cook and feed the other men was better served. which i can understand. found out today from the pt musuem in tn. he was a base 25 and at this point that is all they know. they had been looking for the vets and until today he was a 'no show" now atleast they know he has passed on. and yes,the info on his birth and death is correct!.by the way does anyone know where base 25 was in okinawa? thanks again
