Hi there.

Well at long last I have decided on what boat my old 1/32 Lindberg PT boat will be refurbished and refitted as. It is going to be PT-105 for a number of reasons.

I always like the look of PT-103 and PT-105 in the images I have seen.

I have the six required 20mm ammo lockers built and I have some ultra-fine chain to keep at least one lid open.

I had eight scratch-built depth charge racks and scratch-built depth charges on this model before I refitted and refurbished it. So I can reuse those.

There were not any depth charge racks opn the fore-deck which is good because one of my depth chatges that were on the fore decjk ewas lost.

I notice that I have images of PT-105 where the 20mm Oerlikon on the early pedestal mount does not have the gun shield .

I need to scratch-build a cradle and upper mount for the 20mm Oerlikon as the Lindberg gun cradle is really weird and does not bare any resemblance to any single 20mm gun cradles I have seen images of. I really do wonder where some of their ideas of what weapons looked like were obtained?

However, to improve the appearance of the pedestal mount I will be roughing up the surface using liquid cement stippled with a stiff bristled nylon brush so that the pedestal will appear like it was cast. This is an old armour modelling trick. I'll do it outside later today so I don't have the fumes to contend with. I will also fill a bit of the long slot in the pedestal that Lindberg left for the elevating whell to fit into. Why they did not just have a round hole for that wheel is beyond me. At least the top of that slot is not too deep.

I may be able to repaint the upper hull and deck today also. That wolud be great.

This model is radio controlled and will be running three shafts via hobby motors. I will not plane but it will have a run time of close to two hours at a very realistic cruising speed.

My current new in-progress PT-boat build (the one I have been asking all the questions here for) will plane when it is done.

I noticed the other day that between two area shops there was only a $20 difference in price between the 1/32 Lindberg kit and the 1/35 Italeri kit. I might just get another Italeri kit and backdate it to an earlier variant with torpedo tubes.

Cheers from PeterTareBuilder
