Hi there.
I was wondering if any crews of PT boats ever scrounged an extra raft to carry on their boat?
Cheers from PeterTareBuilder

Some PT BOATS carried the standard Balsa Raft and a Dingy strapped to the Day Room Cabin. Most carried just the one, although PT 374 managed to find a Dingy and kept it. Some guys would take it and fish from it. They lost it however when 2 of the crew let it slip away after a night time of fun. I can only imagine what that fun was........

Peter tare builder,
If you look at the bottom of the page on page 31 of "Know your PT Boat" {which was a training booklet issued by MTBTC Melville RI} it says that in addition to the Balsa liferaft each boat is issued with two 7 man inflatable life rafts http://www.pt171.org/PT171/sting/target32.html
Now I realize that this was only a training book but it was probably based upon approved doctrine and at least some of the boats on the front lines had these extra rafts. They would probably be stored deflated and rolled up so you would not be able to spot them on a picture or a model unless you knew where they were stored or what they looked like rolled up and stored. Just FYI
