Members of the Board:
Can anyone describe for me the standard issue first aid kit for the early PT's? I'm sure that it was a metal box, but any idea of the dimensions? Did it have a handle at both ends and a tray on top when you raised the lid? Was it about 12 in. long, 8 in. deep and 8 in. high?
Thanks for any help heere.

Not sure of the early boats, but I do have a Kit which was used on the life boat on the mid to later War Elco's. Although I never measured it, your demensions are pretty close. One latch in the center, with 2 metal handles on each end. When you open it, there is no tray, but plenty of room for First Aid Supplies........

Thanks Frank. I think I have one. I'll take a picture and send it to you via e-mail ASAP. It is painted red and is lettered up as Fire Dept MTBSTC and was most assuredly carried on one of the engines assigned to the MTBSTC. It still has some battle dressings inside. I suspect that it was a PT boat kit that the FD took possession of and reassigned to one of their engines. -- But--- maybe not. You can tell me what you think.
