Hi there.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought different running gear than what came with my 1/32 scale Lindberg PT-109 kit.

This running gear will be used on the two outboard props. I still hope to mount a center shaft and prop using the original kit parts just for a backup should I drain the other battery(s) suddenly. This modle shaft is going to be on a searate small battery pack. It is only to get the model to shore should I suddenly loose power in the two outboard shafts. This used to happen to me years ago because I do not always run the model on a plane. I will be timing the runs the first fe times when I do run this new model. Ijust want to be really safe.

The two new shafts are Graupner No.412 M4 and the two new motors are Graupner Nr.3320 Speed 400 Race rated to 6 volts. Will it hurt to run these with a 7.2 volt battery? I plan to use direct drive on all three props.

I also bought four three blade props. Two of the props are ProBoat PRB1321: PT-109 so I thought they would work well with the thirty inch long Lindberg kit.

Do you think these props and motors wil get this model to plane? If not the other two props I bought are Graupner 2308.40 forty mm diameter. Will those make the model faster?

Does any one have any idea how long a run time the two motors and props will have if I use only one 7.2 volt 3300 NiMH battery? I can get another battery if I really have too but would like to spare the expnse if I can.

Thanks again for all the advice and encouragement.

An Addition I forgot to include in my previous post.

The RC dealer did not have any dog bone couplers in stock when I bought the running gear. He told me I could use flexible tubing to connect the motors to the prop shafts. Is that a strong enough material for use instead of a dog bone cpupling? These motors runn at 22 000 rpms without a load.

Thanks again.

HEY PT-

I'M STILL WAITING ON YOUR REPLY TO MY E-MAIL! DID YOU RECEIVE IT? I FOUND THE RUDDER FOR YOU!

I SURE WOULDN'T GO WITH FLEXIBLE TUBING AS A LINK FROM YOUR MOTORS TO YOUR SHAFT! CHECK WITH PRO BOAT R/C ON LINE, THEY SHOULD HAVE WHAT YOU NEED!

Hi Frank.

I thought I had got back to you. I'll check my email.
I was afraid the flexible tubing would disintegrate rapidly at the high revolutions. I'd hate to have the boat stranded and in need of rescue. But then again that is exactly why I am setting up a third shaft but on a separate battery - perhaps a 9 volt battey like is used in a smoke detector - that center drive is just an insurance so it does not need to be fast or long running. This is the beauty of a 4 channel radio.

Cheers from PeterTareBuilder
